The naval and royal patrol boats succeeded today, Saturday, in evacuating and rescuing a tourist boat that had sunk while sailing in the Gulf of Aqaba – a statement by the Jordan Armed Forces (JAF) said today.

Patrol, ambulance, and public safety boats were immediately dispatched upon receiving the maritime operations center's report, evacuating the boat's crew and preventing it from sinking, without any injuries.

“This reflects the high level of professionalism and expertise exhibited by the naval and royal patrol units” – the statement added.

The Coast Guard unit, one of the units of the Royal Naval Force, recently established, is responsible for search and rescue operations, ambulance services, enforcement of maritime laws, and protection of the marine environment, tourist, and industrial facilities in the Gulf of Aqaba and the Dead Sea, around the clock.
