A 10-year-old boy drowned Saturday in the King Abdullah Canal in the Central Jordan Valley.

The director of the Abu Ubaidah Hospital Moayad Al-Shakur said that the child was pulled out from the waters of the canal and taken to the emergency department. Despite the medical staff's attempts to revive him, he died before his arrival at the hospital.

An investigation has been launched.
