The Court of Cassation affirmed a Grand Criminal Court ruling that sentenced an individual to one year in prison and fined him JOD 50 for harassing a young woman who ended their relationship.

He kissed her without her consent when she met him to retrieve her social media accounts.

The court convicted him of indecent behavior and extortion misdemeanors, sentencing him to imprisonment for one year and a six-month term, respectively, along with fees. The court also decided to confiscate his phone used in the crime.

The victim, 17, had met the accused four years ago, leading to a romantic relationship during which she shared her social media account information and photos.

When she ended the relationship, the accused persisted in pursuing her and demanded more photos.

The victim communicated with him to recover her accounts, meeting him at his sister's house where he kissed her against her will. The Court of Cassation upheld the ruling, dismissing the appeal.
