A total of 85,609 patients have recovered from COVID-19, since the beginning of the coronavirus crisis in Jordan, said the head of the coronavirus portfolio Wael Al-Hayajneh Monday.

Hayajneh said that the average occupancy rate is between 43 and 45 percent for hospitals, 53 percent for Intensive Care Units and between 31 and 33 percent for ventilators.

The government is currently working on increasing the number of ICU beds and the capacity of the medical sector as a whole.

The Minister of Health Nathir Obeidat said there are positive indications regarding the COVID-19 situation in Jordan and stability regarding the numbers of new daily cases.

The ministry has signed agreements with a specialized company to establish three new field hospitals to tackle the coronavirus pandemic.

He added that the number of beds occupied by COVID-19 patients is still acceptable, but "we must work to reduce the number of cases in the coming days."

Obeidat reassured Jordanians that the "future is promising."
