Following a ban for more than a month on the use of vehicles, the Jordanian government has finally allowed people to move using their vehicles as of tomorrow, April 29.

The Minister of State for Media Affairs, Amjad Adaileh, announced on Monday, April 27, that citizens are allowed to use their vehicles from 8 am to 6 pm.

In a press statement at the National Center for Security and Crisis Management, Adaileh said: "in order to reduce traffic, allowing vehicles to run will be based on the even-odd license plate policy, a policy that allows vehicles to run based on the last number on their plates."

Vehicles whose plate number ends with an odd digit will be allowed to run Wednesday, he said, highlighting that only two people will be allowed in a vehicle at the same time.

Adaileh explained that the process is going to work as follows:

-Vehicles whose plate number ends with an odd digit (the first number from the right) will be allowed to move on Wednesday: 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9.

-Vehicles whose plate number ends with an even digit (the first number from the right) will be allowed to move on the following day: 0, 2, 4, 6 and 8.

As for permit holders, they are allowed to use their vehicles as usual, regardless of the plate number, Adaileh said, stressing that movement between governorates is only allowed to them.

Irbid governor, Rodwan Al-Otoum, said that allowing vehicles to move through the even-odd license plate policy includes the Irbid governorate.

However, residents of Aqaba, Karak, Tafilah and Ma'an are allowed to use their vehicles regardless of their plate numbers from 10 am to 6 pm.
