The official overseeing coronavirus situation in the northern governorates and member of the National Committee for Epidemics, Wael Hayajneh, has revealed this morning that 84 people who had direct contact with the infected truck driver in Irbid tested negative for the virus.

In a statement to Roya, Hayajneh added that the Committee is awaiting the results of about 140 more samples that will be shown today, explaining that those in contact with the driver and the residents of the neighborhood where he resides were tested.

Hayajneh expected that all results will be negative and that all tests will be completed by today.

He added that the inspection teams and a group of volunteers in the Ministry of Health collected and listed the names and phone numbers of truck drivers, where they were contacted to be tested, as it was found that three of them had COVID-19 symptoms and they were transferred to the hospital.

Hayajneh confirmed that the situation in Irbid governorate is stable and under control.
