As Israeli Occupation began its ground invasion of Rafah, several reports on X accounts attempted to downplay the civilian impact of the aggression, according to AFP.

The accounts claimed a video depicts Palestinians preparing to fake their deaths. However, the video actually shows behind-the-scenes footage from a TV series.

A post from "Open Source Intel" on May 6, 2024, suggests, "WATCH: Rafah actors are preparing, and we may soon witness disturbing footage from Rafah." The video shows a man on a stretcher in a graveyard while a woman applies makeup resembling blood to his chest and face. Another man sits in a body bag nearby.

The clip, labeled "Make-up Gaza Style," has been widely shared across various platforms in different languages. Many references to "Pallywood," a derogatory term combining "Palestine" and "Hollywood," are made in these posts.

However, the circulating video does not show Gazans in Rafah preparing to fake injuries ahead of the offensive.

Some X users revealed that the clip is from the set of "Nazeef Al-Turaab," or "Bleeding Dirt," a Palestinian TV series that premiered in March. A search for the director's YouTube channel found the same video, with Arabic captions confirming it is backstage footage from "Bleeding Dirt," posted on April 10.

In the behind-the-scenes clip, the crew discusses putting grass on an actor's mouth and joking about the body bag resembling shoulder pads worn by a Lebanese singer decades ago.

On May 7, Israeli Occupation sent tanks into Rafah, despite international warning of such an escalation. Israeli Occupation Forces seized control of the southern border crossing with Egypt. This move followed a warning to Palestinians in the area to evacuate ahead of a long-threatened operation.

There is international concern about the consequences of an Israeli Occupation ground invasion in Rafah, where 1.4 million people are sheltering due to the conflict with Hamas.

Israeli Occupation's air and ground campaign in Gaza has reportedly killed at least 34,789 people, mostly women and children, according to Gaza's Health Ministry.
