A weather depression coming from south Cyprus is expected to hit the Kingdom on Wednesday, January 8, 2020, according to the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD).

JMD explained that a slight drop in temperatures is predicted tomorrow with cold weather conditions in most parts of the Kingdom, partly cloudy skies and a chance of rain showers in the northern areas in the afternoon.

Southwesterly moderate speed winds are expected, causing dust to rise especially in the Badia region.

On Wednesday, January 8, a cold air mass will hit the Kingdom, as a further drop in temperatures is expected with extremely cold weather in most parts of the Kingdom, partly cloudy skies and a chance of rain showers in the northern regions.

Rainfall may be heavy at times and accompanied by thunderstorms and hail. However, high mountains may witness light snow.

On Thursday, January 9, Jordan will remain under the impact of the bad weather conditions, as the weather is expected to be cold, cloudy and rainy in most areas.

JMD has issued a series of warnings, notably:

  • Risk of slippery roads during rainfall.
  • Risk of flooding in lowlands and valleys.
  • Low visibility due to dust especially in the Badia region.
  • Low visibility in the mountains due to fog.
