Heatwave scheduled to hit Jordan on Wednesday

The Kingdom is up for an especially hot weekend, with a hot air mass scheduled to arrive on Wednesday, May 22, 2019, and last until Saturday, according to Head of the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD), Hussein Momani.

The hot air mass will be originating from Central Africa extending to Egypt and hitting the Kingdom.

The weather will be hot across the Kingdom, as temperatures will be 6-7 degrees above their annual average, with highs of 35 degrees in Amman.

However, the weather will be even hotter in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba, with temperatures swinging between 41-43 degrees.

The hot air mass will reach a peak on Friday, with temperatures expected to reach up to 38 in Amman, and will range between 44-45 degrees in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba.

Jordanians were urged not to spend a lot of time under the sun, especially in the noon and afternoon and to take into consideration the instructions issued by the responsible authorities and the Civil Defense Directorate (CDD).
