In a meeting on Monday October 29, 2018, the Cabinet decided on forming a ministerial Crisis Management Unit.

Chaired by Prime Minister Omar Razzaz, the meeting discussed the need of a unit that deals with emergency situations of humanitarian or consular nature. The Crisis Management Unit is expected to coordinate between all governmental institutions and affiliated parties, ensure efficiency, eliminate consequences, find suitable and fundamental solutions, and provide necessary organizational support to all sectors when dealing with unforeseen scenarios such as natural disasters.

This Unit is to operate under the supervision of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State, Rajai Muasher. Members include Minister of Public Sector Development Majd Shweikeh, Minister of State for Legal Affairs Mubarak Abu Yameen, and Minister of State for Media Affairs Jumana Ghunaimat.
