Verbal clashes between Cabinet Members and Zarqa citizens ensued on Tuesday during a meeting that was set to discuss the draft of the new Income Tax Bill (ITB).

Shortly after the meeting started, the entire ministerial team was forced to leave the venue to avoid further clashes with the infuriated citizens, who refused to allow the MPs to discuss the ITB.

Three previous ministerial meetings in the Governorates of Tafileh, Ma’an and Mafraq witnessed the same chaotic scenes shown in the video below, as citizens expressed their outrage at the contested ITB.

In June, Hani Al Mulki was forced to resign as Prime Minister after days-long mass protests put immense pressure on him and his government to call it quits. The protests kicked off after Mulki’ announced the controversial ITB.
