A 6.4-magnitude earthquake hit southern Taiwan early Tuesday, injuring 27 people and causing minor to moderate damage.
The quake, which struck at 12:17 a.m., was centered 38 kilometers southeast of Chiayi County Hall at a depth of 10 kilometers. The US Geological Survey recorded a magnitude of 6.
