  • The war has disrupted children's education and exposed them to displacement, loss and trauma, according to psychology experts.
  • Destroyed parks and playgrounds have deprived children of essential recreational spaces.

A video posted on Monday showing several young girls playing inside the wreckage of a destroyed car in Gaza has highlighted the conditions facing children across the enclave, where widespread destruction has left many without safe spaces to play.

The footage, posted by the family of Gazan children Celine and Sila on Instagram shows the girls playing inside the damaged vehicle, an ordinary childhood activity taking place against the backdrop of neighborhoods devastated by ‘Israel's’  war on Gaza.

The war has destroyed or damaged homes, schools, parks and playgrounds, severely limiting the spaces where children can play, socialize and take part in recreational activities.

Gaza's children have endured repeated displacement, the loss of family members, disrupted education and prolonged exposure to violence. The psychological toll of the war has also left many in need of mental health and psychosocial support.

With playgrounds and other recreational spaces destroyed or inaccessible, many children have been deprived of the safe environments and everyday experiences essential to childhood.
