  • Tyson arrived in Amman on Oct. 28 as a guest of honour for Jordan MMA Week, held from Oct. 27 to 30.
  • The programme culminated in the DF: UNCAGED MMA championship on October 30 at Amman's Roman Theatre.

Prince Ali bin Al Hussein, president of the Jordan Football Association, hosted former world heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson on Saturday, thanking the American boxing legend for supporting athletes in the country and across the region.

In a post on X, Prince Ali said he was honoured to welcome Tyson and expressed appreciation for his support of athletes, particularly young people.

“It was an honor to host Mike Tyson. Thank you for supporting athletes in Jordan and across the region especially our youth,” he wrote.

The visit coincided with Jordan MMA Week, held from Oct. 27 to 30, as part of efforts to promote the Kingdom as a destination for international sporting events and sports tourism.

Tyson arrived in Amman on Oct. 28 as a guest of honour for the programme, which culminated in the DF: UNCAGED mixed martial arts championship on Oct. 30 at the Roman Theatre in downtown Amman. The event featured 14 bouts involving fighters from 16 countries.

The visit also included plans to explore Jordan's tourist attractions, including Petra, a site Tyson had previously described as a historic destination he had long wanted to visit.

The sporting week was supported by Jordan's Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the Jordan Tourism Board, with the aim of showcasing the country's sporting scene and attracting international attention to its cultural and archaeological landmarks.
