As the United Nations General Assembly's high-level session continued Tuesday in Manhattan, hundreds of Iranian Americans gathered outside the UN to call on the international community to condemn Iran's regime.

The rally drew former political prisoners, activists, and politicians, and came as Iran's delegation attended the Assembly for the first time since a roughly seven-month conflict with the United States.

The demonstration unfolded while President Trump addressed world leaders inside, warning that Iran must reach a deal or face devastating consequences, and asking rhetorically whether he should "drive them into hell with no chance of survival and no hope of future greatness or generations." He predicted a deal was likely "right after the election," saying it wouldn't make sense for Iran to hold out.

More demonstrations are expected Wednesday, when Iran's president is scheduled to address the General Assembly. NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch, who outlined the department's broader security plan for the Assembly alongside Mayor Zohran Mamdani last week, said police are prepared for "multiple protests every day" throughout the session, while stressing that officers will facilitate First Amendment activity but show no tolerance for violence or property destruction.
