Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held talks with his Dutch counterpart, Tom de Bruijn, on the margins of the UN General Assembly in New York, according to a statement posted on Araghchi's Telegram channel.
The Iranian minister used the meeting to take aim at what he called the "double standards of European countries" over developments in the region, singling out their quiet acceptance of what Tehran describes as "aggressive actions and crimes" carried out by the United States and 'Israel' against Iran.
According to the statement, Araghchi argued it was inconsistent for European governments to present themselves as defenders of international law and human rights while staying quiet about, or even backing, direct military aggression by Washington and ‘Israel’ against Iran.
For his part, the Dutch foreign minister underlined the value of diplomatic engagement and set out the Netherlands' views on the broader regional situation and on the state of relations between Iran and Europe.
