  • Iranian officials accused US forces of attacking commercial shipping.
  • 1 Iranian crew member killed; 4 injured (including 2 Pakistani nationals).

An Iranian container ship came under attack in southern Iranian waters early Sunday morning, leaving one crew member dead and four others injured, according to a report broadcast by Iran's Fars news agency.

The vessel was carrying 10 crew members—five Iranian nationals and five Pakistani nationals—when it was targeted at approximately 2:30 AM on Sunday while en route from Jebel Ali toward the port of Bandar Abbas.

Official statements released from Qeshm confirmed that an Iranian crew member originally from Khuzestan province died in the attack, while four other crew members were wounded and transported to a regional medical facility for treatment.

Video footage published by Fars showed officials visiting the injured crew members at their hospital bedsides in Qeshm.

During an interview conducted outside the medical facility, an Iranian official confirmed the details of the incident, stating that the container vessel was targeted during its transit through the regional corridor.

The official condemned the strike, characterizing it as a hostile attack launched by US forces against a commercial vessel operating in local waters, while expressing condolences to the family of the deceased Iranian crew member.
