  • Strike comes amid Syria-'Israel' security talks.

At least one person was injured on Saturday after an 'Israeli' drone strike targeted a vehicle in southwestern Syria, according to Syrian state and local media reports.

Syrian state television Al-Ikhbariya reported that the unmanned aircraft hit a vehicle in the town of Beit Jinn, situated in the western countryside of Damascus roughly 35 kilometers southwest of the capital and 10 kilometers from the 'Israeli'-occupied Golan Heights.

Security talks, Golan Heights disputes

The strike occurred against the backdrop of diplomatic efforts by Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa to reach a security agreement with 'Israel'.

Speaking in late July, President al-Sharaa stated that Damascus was engaging through international mediators toward a security framework that could lead to comprehensive peace without Syria relinquishing its sovereignty over the occupied Golan Heights.

'Israel' has occupied the majority of Syria's Golan Heights since the 1967 war. Following the fall of the Assad regime in late 2024, 'Israel' declared the 1974 disengagement agreement nullified and deployed forces into the demilitarized buffer zone, as well as positions on the Syrian side of Mount Hermon (Jabal al-Sheikh).
