Turkish Justice Minister Akin Gurlek announced via X that Turkey has requested an international Interpol Red Notice for 'Israeli' Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Afek Moskovitch regarding the military interception of the Global Freedom Flotilla delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza.

Writing on X, Minister Gurlek detailed that the legal proceedings are advancing under Case No. 2026/108 Esas before the Istanbul 11th Heavy Penal Court, which names 35 defendants involved in the operation.

"In the scope of the file, in line with the arrest warrants issued on July 14, 2026, for Binyamin Netanyahu and Afek Moskovitch on the charge of 'Genocide,' a request has been made to our Ministry of Interior for the issuance of a red notice at the international level for their search, and the relevant documents have been forwarded to our Ministry of Foreign Affairs," Justice Minister Akin Gurlek stated.

Extensive criminal charges filed

According to Minister Gurlek, the defendants face a broad range of criminal charges arising from the interception and subsequent detention of civilian activists carrying humanitarian supplies:

"Binyamin Netanyahu and Afek Moskovitch are being tried on charges of 'Crimes Against Humanity,' 'Genocide,' 'Deprivation of Liberty of a Qualified Person,' 'Intentional Injury,' 'Torture,' 'Damage to Property,' 'Qualified Plunder,' and 'Hijacking of Transport Vehicles' in connection with the armed intervention against civilians delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza in international waters and the detention of activists," Gurlek detailed.

Ankara pledges full legal accountability

Addressing the broader political context, Minister Gurlek firmly dismissed any claims of legal immunity for top 'Israeli' leadership, emphasizing Turkey's determination to pursue judicial remedies.

"We categorically reject the notion that the Netanyahu administration, which is implementing a genocide policy in Gaza, is untouchable and unaccountable," Gurlek declared. "We will not allow the crimes committed in Gaza to be covered up or the perpetrators to be shielded by impunity. We will resolutely utilize all possibilities of national and international law."

Gurlek concluded his statement by reaffirming Turkey's diplomatic commitment to the Palestinian cause under executive leadership:

"Under the leadership of our President, His Excellency Erdogan, we will continue to stand firmly by the side of the Palestinian people, the oppressed, and the conscience of humanity. We will take all necessary steps with determination to ensure that those who commit crimes against humanity are held accountable before the law."
