  • ‘Israeli’ military chief Eyal Zamir says ‘Israel’ will prevent hostile forces from establishing positions near its borders.
  • The comments follow an ‘Israeli’ strike on a Syrian airbase that ‘Israel’ said was aimed at stopping a Turkish deployment.

‘Israeli’ military Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir has warned that ‘Israel’ will prevent hostile forces from establishing a presence along its borders, according to ‘Israeli’ media.

Zamir made the remarks during a tour of ‘Israeli’-occupied areas in southern Syria, in his first public comments since ‘Israel’ carried out an attack on an airbase in Syria, according to Hebrew-language NTD.

"We will not allow hostile forces to establish a presence along our borders, and we will know how to use our power precisely, wherever and whenever necessary," Zamir said.

Strike on Syrian airbase
‘Israel’ said Tuesday’s attack targeted Abu al-Duhur Airbase near Aleppo to prevent Turkish troops from deploying there.

‘Israeli’ authorities said ‘Israel’ and Syria had agreed to maintain the "status quo" on security matters, but claimed Damascus was "on the verge of breaching" the arrangement by allowing Turkish forces to deploy at the base.

Turkiye has rejected the allegations, describing them as "frivolous."
