The Netherlands’ representative to the Palestinian Territories, Michel Rentenaar, has condemned escalating 'Israeli' settler violence against Palestinian families during a field visit to the town of Qusra.
Speaking to Roya News, Rentenaar said he was "very concerned" about the rise in settler violence and called for immediate action to stop the attacks.
"There is too much of it, it's all over the place, and it needs to be contained," he said, stressing that occupying authorities have a responsibility under international law to protect civilians.
Monitoring conditions on the ground
Rentenaar said his visit was intended to assess conditions firsthand, hear accounts from residents, and examine the impact of the violence on Palestinian livelihoods.
He also pointed to European Union measures targeting individual settlers and organizations involved in violence, saying they reflect the bloc’s opposition to illegal settlements and attacks against Palestinians.
The diplomat called for continued international pressure as discussions on the issue continue through diplomatic channels, including in Brussels.
"This demands a stand from the entire world to say stop.. this is enough, this is not good, and it needs to stop," Rentenaar said.
