The Jordanian Armed Forces said on Tuesday that the Eastern Military Region thwarted an attempt to smuggle a quantity of narcotics using electronically guided balloons.
The army said border guard units detected the balloons along the frontlines within their area of responsibility, before tracking and intercepting them in coordination with security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department.
The balloons were brought down inside Jordanian territory, and the seized materials were handed over to the competent authorities to complete legal procedures.
The operation comes as Jordan continues to face repeated cross-border smuggling attempts involving advanced methods aimed at bypassing border surveillance systems.
