  • Fourteen UN human rights experts warned of surging violence by 'Israeli' settlers in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem.
  • The experts said the attacks are driving forced displacement of Palestinians amid alleged impunity.

Fourteen independent United Nations human rights experts have issued a stark warning over what they describe as escalating violence by 'Israeli' settlers in the occupied West Bank, including occupied East Jerusalem.

In a joint statement, the experts said settler attacks have “become a daily terror in Palestinian lives,” creating widespread fear, instability, and insecurity. They warned that the situation is contributing to the “forcible displacement of the indigenous population,” according to their assessment.

The group included Francesca Albanese, the UN Special Rapporteur on the occupied Palestinian territory.

The experts accused what they described as a “settler-colonial movement” of carrying out “relentless attacks” with the “support and acquiescence” of 'Israel'. They warned that continued “full impunity” for the violence is “facilitating ethnic cleansing,” according to their statement.

The warning comes amid rising tensions across the occupied West Bank, where human rights groups and UN bodies have repeatedly raised concerns over settler activity and military operations. 'Israeli' authorities have consistently rejected accusations of systemic wrongdoing and argue that security measures are necessary in response to violence.
