Italy has sent a replacement statue of Jesus Christ to the southern Lebanese village of Dibl, in an official initiative coordinated through the western sector command of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), according to Roya News correspondent in Lebanon.

The crucifix was delivered to be installed in a residential garden where the original structure was destroyed during an 'Israeli' attack.

Symbolic restoration in border village

The replacement cross has already arrived in Lebanon and is expected to be handed over to the homeowner within hours. It will be re-erected at the site as a symbolic gesture of resilience for residents of border communities.

The initiative was organized by Italy as part of its role within UNIFIL’s western sector operations in southern Lebanon.

Message of resilience amid tensions

The delivery is being presented locally as a message of solidarity with residents of border areas who have faced repeated security incidents amid ongoing cross-border tensions involving 'Israel'.

Community members in the village described the restoration of the religious symbol as an act of defiance against attempts to intimidate civilians in southern Lebanon.

UNIFIL role in southern Lebanon

UNIFIL continues to operate along the Lebanon–'Israel' border, monitoring hostilities and supporting stability in the region. Troop-contributing countries, including Italy, regularly participate in civil-military initiatives alongside their peacekeeping duties.
