  • US, 'Israel' and Lebanon to hold second round of talks in Washington amid fragile ceasefire

US Ambassador to 'Israel' Mike Huckabee will join the US delegation for upcoming direct talks between 'Israel' and Lebanon, a US State Department official told CNN, as diplomatic efforts continue under a fragile ceasefire in Lebanon.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is also expected to participate in the discussions, alongside US Ambassador to Lebanon Michel Issa and State Department counselor Michael Needham, according to the official.

'Israel' and Lebanon will again be represented by their ambassadors to the United States, Yechiel Leiter and Nada Hamadeh Moawad, respectively.

The talks are scheduled to take place on Thursday at the US State Department and mark the second round of ambassadorial-level discussions in as many weeks, held amid a 10-day ceasefire agreement in Lebanon.

A State Department official said Huckabee “will conduct routine consultations with State Department leadership and interagency partners, including discussions on regional issues” during his time in Washington, DC.
