Officials said the group was active in planning and coordination, without providing further details on the timing or location of the operation.

Ongoing counterterrorism operations

The ministry described the raid as part of continued efforts to track and disrupt remaining Daesh networks, which have persisted in parts of Syria despite the group’s territorial defeat years ago.

Security forces have regularly announced arrests and raids targeting suspected cells, particularly in areas where militants are believed to operate in small, dispersed groups.

Persistent security challenge

Although Daesh lost control of its last territorial strongholds in 2019, remnants of the group continue to carry out sporadic attacks and maintain underground networks in Syria’s desert regions and remote areas.

Authorities say counterterrorism operations remain a priority amid concerns over attempted regrouping and infiltration attempts.
