  • Property damage was reported at mission, ambassador’s residence earlier on Saturday

The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates issued a statement Sunday expressing its strong condemnation of the recent attacks targeting the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates and the headquarters of its head of mission in Damascus, Syria.

In addition to denouncing the physical attacks on the diplomatic premises, the Ministry expressed its deep disapproval and strict rejection of the insults aimed at the national symbols of the UAE.

Ambassador Fuad Al-Majali, the official spokesperson for the Ministry, reiterated the critical importance of safeguarding diplomatic personnel and facilities. He stressed that providing full protection for diplomats and the premises of diplomatic missions is a fundamental obligation under international law, specifically referencing the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961.

UAE's statement

The United Arab Emirates strongly condemned acts of rioting and attempted vandalism targeting its diplomatic mission and the residence of its head of mission in the Syrian capital, Damascus.

In a sharply worded statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs rejected what it described as “unacceptable acts” against diplomatic property and symbols of the state.

The Ministry said the attacks constitute a clear breach of international diplomatic conventions, stressing the obligation to protect diplomatic premises and personnel under the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, which guarantees the inviolability of embassies and staff.

It reaffirmed its full rejection of acts of vandalism and disorder targeting official missions.
