6 hours ago|Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR)announced the launch of a new international logistics corridor for freight trains.
The route links the major ports of Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province with the Al Haditha border crossing, opening direct trade routes with Jordan and northern neighbors.
The corridor connects:
- King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam
- King Fahd Industrial Port and Jubail Commercial Port
- Al Haditha border crossing with Jordan
Each train can carry more than 400 standard containers, enabling efficient transport of large volumes of goods and exports.
Advantages: Faster and Safer
Spanning over 1,700 kilometers, the corridor offers significant improvements to supply chains:
- Time savings: Travel time cut by half compared with other land transport methods.
- Sustainability and safety: Reduces thousands of trucks on roads, protecting infrastructure, improving safety, and lowering carbon emissions.
- Integrated shipping: Supports export and re-export flows between ports and land crossings in both directions.
SAR operates a network exceeding 5,500 kilometers, transporting around 30 million tons of minerals and goods in 2025.
