A new rapid bus route connecting Amman and Salt was launched Saturday as part of efforts to expand Jordan’s public transport network.
The route, numbered 107, was inaugurated in the presence of Minister of Public Works and Housing Maher Abu Al‑Samen, Minister of Transport Nidal Al‑Qatamin, Chairman of the Greater Amman Municipality committee Yousef Shawarbeh, and Chairman of the Greater Salt Municipality committee Ali Al‑Batayneh.
Officials said the new service is part of Amman Municipality’s plan to provide a modern, safe, and organized public transportation system while easing traffic congestion between the two cities. The project also aims to strengthen connectivity between Amman and other governorates through an integrated transport network.
The route extends 22.5 kilometers, linking Sweileh Bus Rapid Transit Station in Amman with Al‑Balqa Applied University in Salt.
Eight modern buses will operate on the route according to fixed schedules, with a bus departing every 20 minutes and about 80 trips daily, ensuring consistent service for students, employees, and visitors.
The fare from Salt to stations inside Amman via Sweileh will cost 0.65 JOD, while trips from Salt to other governorates through the Bus Rapid Transit network will cost 1 JOD.
The route includes several stops along the way, beginning at Sweileh BRT Station and passing through locations such as Al-Shishani Mosque parking area, Princess Raya Street, Al-Kammaliyah Roundabout, Umm Al-Nuaaj Roundabout, Khalil Al-Abdalat Complex, Al-Saro neighborhood, the gate of Amman Al‑Ahliyya University, the Licensing Traffic Light, Al-Yazidiyah Triangle, Shafa Al-Ameriyah, Qaqqish Tribe Diwan, Government Departments Complex, and Jerusalem Viewpoint before reaching Al-Balqa Applied University.
On the return trip, buses will pass through stops including Al-Hospital Neighborhood, Jerusalem Viewpoint, Salt Governmental Hospital, Government Departments Complex, Qaqqish Tribe Diwan, Al-Dababneh Roundabout, the Labor Directorate, the Licensing Traffic Light, Amman Al-Ahliyya University, Umm Al-Nuaaj Roundabout, Abu Khalaf Mosque, Al-Kammaliyah Roundabout, Sweileh District Directorate, and the final stop at Al-Rukabi Boys School.
The buses operate with smart trip-planning systems and are equipped with free Wi-Fi, electronic payment options, surveillance cameras, and accessibility features for elderly passengers and people with mobility disabilities. The vehicles also include air-conditioning and safety systems designed to meet international standards.
Passengers aged 65 and above will be able to use the Bus Rapid Transit service free of charge.
