  • Iranian president calls for full citizen participation in governance amid Gulf tensions.

Iranian President Massoud Bezikian said on Saturday that Iran has successfully thwarted recent conspiracies targeting the country.

He emphasized that overcoming these crises requires a thorough review of how authorities interact with citizens.

Bezikian described “justice” as the guiding principle of his government, calling for full popular sovereignty and the inclusion of all social groups in decision-making and governance. He stressed that this approach would strengthen internal stability through public consent.

Warnings over exploitation of protests

Commenting on ongoing protest movements, Bezikian warned of forces attempting to exploit peaceful demonstrations to incite sedition and provoke internal conflict among Iranians.

Iran open to nuclear negotiations

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told Tasnim news agency that Washington has sought indirect communication with Tehran through third parties. Araghchi confirmed that Iran remains open to reaching a “just” nuclear deal that safeguards the country’s national interests.

U.S.-Iran tensions in the Gulf

The remarks come amid rising military tensions in the Gulf. U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) issued a warning to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard ahead of planned live-fire naval exercises in the Strait of Hormuz. CENTCOM stressed that it would not tolerate any actions threatening the safety of international shipping, which sees roughly 100 commercial vessels transit daily.

The U.S. military reaffirmed its commitment to protecting personnel, ships, and aircraft in the Middle East, setting clear “red lines” to prevent provocations. While recognizing Iran’s right to operate in international waters and airspace, CENTCOM urged adherence to international professional standards to avoid escalation.
