The Jordanian military confirmed that its Royal Air Force took part in US-led airstrikes targeting Daesh positions in Syria on Saturday night. The operation comes in response to a December attack that killed three American personnel.

In a statement, the army said, “The Royal Air Force carried out precision air operations yesterday evening targeting a number of objectives belonging to the Daesh terrorist group in several areas inside Syrian territory, as part of ongoing regional and international efforts to combat terrorism.”

The announcement highlights Jordan’s continued cooperation with the US-led coalition in efforts to counter Daesh in Syria and the wider region.
