- Hamas announced its commitment to dissolve its administrative bodies in Gaza and transfer all governing responsibilities to an independent "technocratic committee," marking a potential end to its nearly two-decade civilian rule.
- Senior officials warned that the "Trump Peace Plan" (UN Resolution 2803) is failing due to ‘Israeli’ Prime Minister Netanyahu's evasion of terms, cautioning that continued military escalation and humanitarian distress could trigger a broader regional conflict.
Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem said Saturday that the group has reached a decision to dissolve its government entities currently administering the Gaza Strip.
In a press statement, Qassem confirmed that Hamas is prepared to hand over all administrative responsibilities to a “technocratic committee.”
He emphasized Hamas’ commitment to facilitating all “necessary procedures” to ensure the committee's success and called for the formation of this body to begin its “duties” toward Gaza’s population.
Trump Peace Plan Facing Obstacles
The announcement coincided with statements from senior Hamas official Basem Naim, who asserted that the plan to end the war proposed by US President Donald Trump, and adopted by the UN Security Council in Resolution 2803, is facing a "clear stalemate."
Naim attributed the lack of progress to what he described as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s evasion of obligations.
He accused the ‘Israeli’ leader of intentionally escalating the situation and sabotaging the agreement to return to active warfare in a bid to rescue his own political future.
Field Violations and Commitment to "Phase Two"
Highlighting ongoing military activity, Naim noted the deaths of 13 Palestinians on Friday across various areas, dismissively labeling the justifications provided for these strikes as "fabricated." He reaffirmed the following positions:
- Resistance Commitments: Naim stated that Palestinian factions have fulfilled all obligations under the agreement, as verified by international mediators and the United States.
- Readiness for Transition: The movement expressed "positive readiness" to engage with the second phase of the plan, which includes the immediate formation of a Palestinian governing body and Hamas's total withdrawal from governing.
- Core Demands: Success of the plan remains contingent on the total opening of all border crossings in both directions and the implementation of all remaining items previously clarified to mediators.
Naim warned that the continuation of the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza places the credibility of the mediators and the American guarantor at stake.
He concluded by stating that the current situation is "unsustainable" and could lead to a broader regional conflict; an outcome he says Netanyahu is actively seeking to avoid his "inevitable political fate."
