Syria is taking part in the current round of negotiations with ‘Israel’ under US coordination, according to a Syrian government source cited by the state-run SANA news agency.

The source said the Syrian delegation is headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and is participating in talks focused on reactivating the 1974 Disengagement Agreement.

According to SANA, the discussions aim to guarantee a full ‘Israeli’ withdrawal to the lines that existed before Dec. 8, 2024, when Bashar al-Assad was ousted following the capture of Damascus by opposition forces.

The government source said the resumption of negotiations reflects Syria’s commitment to restoring its “non-negotiable national rights.”

SANA reported that the talks will take place within the framework of a “balanced security agreement” that places full Syrian sovereignty above all other considerations.

No official comment has been issued by ‘Israel’ or the United States regarding the reported negotiations.
