‘Israeli’ authorities have told the Supreme Court that the ban on foreign journalists entering the Gaza Strip should remain in place, according to a court filing submitted by the Attorney General on behalf of the government.

In the memo the government argued that “even at this stage, journalists should not be allowed to enter the Gaza Strip without accompaniment.”

The filing said the decision is based on “security reasons,” citing the position of the security establishment, which maintains that a security risk linked to such entry “still exists.”

The statement came in response to legal challenges seeking access for foreign media to Gaza, where restrictions have remained in force amid the ongoing war.

‘Israel’ has repeatedly cited security concerns to justify limits on movement into the Gaza Strip, including for international journalists, drawing criticism from press freedom organizations and human rights groups.

The Supreme Court is expected to review the government’s position as part of ongoing deliberations on media access to the besieged enclave.
