  • ‘Israeli’ army prepares for resettlement in northern West Bank after 20-year evacuation.
  • Military plans include new battalions, bypass roads, and fortified positions around returning settlements.

The ‘Israeli’ army announced on Sunday that it has begun preparations to reinstate settlements in the northern West Bank, following approval to return to sites evacuated 20 years ago between Nablus and Jenin.

The military plans to deploy an additional battalion to secure the resettlement, joining 23 existing battalions in the region, according to 'Israeli' outlet Ynet.

Bypass Roads and Military Positions

The army intends to construct bypass roads and establish military positions adjacent to the settlements targeted for return, including Homesh, Sanur, Ganim, and Kadim.

A key project involves building a bypass road around the village of Silat al-Dhahr south of Jenin to establish a military site near the evacuated Sanur settlement, ahead of the planned return. The resettlement will include 126 new housing units and additional infrastructure projects.

Increased Security Measures

The 'Israeli' army is also boosting security forces within the settlements with additional weapons and is considering equipping them with hand grenades and anti-armor missiles to reinforce protection.

The move marks a significant escalation in settlement activity in northern West Bank and signals a broader effort to reestablish evacuated sites with full military support.
