The Syrian Interior Ministry announced Sunday that a “qualitative and decisive” security operation in Palmyra resulted in the arrest of five suspects following a terrorist attack on Saturday.

The attack targeted a meeting of the Internal Security Forces leadership in the Syrian desert, which included officials from the international coalition, and caused multiple deaths and injuries, the Ministry said.

The operation was conducted in full coordination with the Syrian General Intelligence Directorate and international coalition forces, based on precise prior intelligence. Those arrested are suspected of planning, executing, or facilitating the attack and have been placed under investigation.

“The targeting of state institutions will not go unanswered,” the Ministry stated, affirming that Syrian security forces are fully prepared to respond firmly to threats against the country’s security and stability.

The Ministry concluded by emphasizing its ongoing commitment to pursue terrorist organizations across Syrian territory to safeguard citizens and key institutions.
