Syrian Foreign Minister Assaad Hassan al-Shibani called on the international community to take a firm stance to stop 'Israeli' assaults, saying the events in the town of Beit Jinn represent an aggressive 'Israeli' practice.
Al-Shibani made the comments while receiving Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen and his accompanying delegation in Damascus.
Escalation background and Netanyahu’s personal motives
Al-Shibani affirmed the commitment of the "new Syria" to the return of all its citizens. The Syrian side also outlined its view of the motives behind the latest assault.

The Syrian Minister of Information said that personal motives of 'Israeli' Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu were behind the recent military escalation in Syria.
He added that the Zionist entity "recognizes that we are not currently in a position of strength. It provokes us and wants to drag us into a confrontation."
No peace before withdrawal
The Minister of Information stressed Damascus’ long standing position that "there will be no peace with the occupation before its withdrawal from the occupied territories after December 8". He reiterated Syria’s refusal to concede any part of its land, saying the occupation "miscalculated the resolve of our people".
The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates also issued a strongly worded statement condemning the 'Israeli' attack on the town of Beit Jinn in rural Damascus.
The ministry described the move by 'Israel' as a "criminal and blatant assault". It said a patrol belonging to the 'Israeli' forces infiltrated the town and assaulted residents and their property.
According to the statement, the provocation "led to direct clashes after residents confronted the patrol", forcing it to withdraw from Syrian territory.
Damascus added that after the failed incursion, the occupation forces resorted to "deliberately and brutally shelling the town", calling it a "full fledged war crime".
