- 'Israeli' forces say they recovered nine bodies of Palestinian fighters inside Rafah tunnels.
- The army claims the men were killed in strikes and engineering operations targeting underground sites.
The 'Israeli' military claimed on Friday that its forces recovered the bodies of nine Palestinian fighters inside a tunnel network in the southern Gaza Strip, saying they were killed during ongoing operations targeting underground infrastructure in eastern Rafah.
In a statement, the army said the bodies were found within what it described as underground "terror" infrastructure, adding that the men were likely killed during a combination of aerial strikes and “engineering measures” carried out as part of its push to dismantle the tunnel system.
According to the military, more than 30 fighters attempting to escape the tunnel network in eastern Rafah have been killed to date, and the pursuit of others still attempting to flee is ongoing.
'Israeli' media have long claimed that between 100 and 200 Hamas fighters remain inside a sprawling tunnel network beneath Rafah.
