Chancellor of Germany Friedrich Merz will visit ‘Israel’ next month, according to a source cited by “The Times of Israel”.

The visit is scheduled for December 6-7, and will be Merz’ first visit since he took up his post as chancellor; and also the first visit by a leader of a major european country to 'Israel' in over a year.

It will include a meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and a visit to the Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial.

Earlier this month, Germany said it will lift limits it previously placed on certain arms shipments to 'Israel', which were originally put in place in August due to the ‘Israeli’ assault on Gaza City and the catastrophic human conditions.

Germany is the second-largest arms exporter to ‘Israel’, after the United States.
