Miss Palestine Nadeen Ayoub has publicly alleged that the voting process for a fan-favorite category on the Miss Universe application was manipulated, leading to her category being prematurely closed without a winner.

In a video statement and subsequent social media caption, Ayoub dismissed the controversy as being "not about the award," but about "questioning injustice and the system."

Ayoub, who was competing in the "Most Beautiful People" voting category on the Miss Universe app, claimed that she was leading the vote by a significant margin just minutes before the voting period was set to close. She provided screenshots showing her in first place with a large lead.

Allegations of Internal Manipulation

The core of her allegation centered on two key points:

  • Sudden Vote Surge: Ayoub stated that within a span of two minutes, another contestant saw a surge of over 20,000 votes, pushing her out of the lead. She described this rate of voting as "very impossible to do unless there's more than one person voting" and "not really realistic unless it's done internally."
  • Unresolved Category: She highlighted that her category was the only one that did not close properly and was never awarded to a winner, even after the rest of the competition had concluded.

Ayoub expressed that she felt this outcome was a major "injustice." She emphasized that she felt compelled to speak out against what she saw as wrong, asserting her responsibility "to stand up for myself or for others."

Biggest Prize and Systemic Critique

In her accompanying statement, Ayoub reframed the experience, focusing on her national title and her political voice.

"I already won the biggest award which is people’s hearts and love for Palestine, but we cannot stay silent in times of injustice for others and ourselves," she wrote.
She further stressed that her true prize was "being Miss Palestine" and "being the voice of my people" who want to see justice, beauty, and culture. Ayoub’s decision to publicly challenge the system comes at a time when her platform is focused on humanitarian and political advocacy.

The Miss Universe Organization has not issued a formal statement regarding the specific allegations of manipulation in the "Most Beautiful People" voting category.
