Khan Younis’ eastern districts were engulfed in one of the fiercest bombardments in recent days on Friday, as 'Israeli' forces intensified air and artillery strikes ahead of a new ground push into the so-called “Yellow Line” area in the southern Gaza Strip.

Local field contacts reported a rapid escalation beginning at dawn, with neighborhoods facing “intense airstrikes and indiscriminate artillery fire” that flattened several buildings and sent families fleeing deeper into the city.

According to the sources, the relentless firepower “paved the way for the advance of tanks and military vehicles,” which later took up positions inside the “yellow line,” a buffer zone used by the Israeli Occupation Forces to stage incursions.

Witnesses said 'Israeli' units did not stop at entering the area but began “demolition operations of residential buildings” along its perimeter, a move seen as a sign that the army may be trying to widen these zones or set up new routes for expanded ground operations.

Medical personnel at Nasser Medical Complex reported an additional fatality linked to the military escalation. Doctors confirmed that a displaced Palestinian succumbed to gunshot wounds inflicted by 'Israeli' troops. They stressed that the victim had been shot in an area located “outside the yellow line” south of Khan Younis, raising fears that the scope of targeted zones is growing even beyond the immediate incursion corridor.
