'Israeli' settlers launched an unprecedented wave of violence across the occupied West Bank last month, carrying out at least 264 attacks against Palestinians, the highest monthly number ever documented, according to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
In a statement released Friday, OCHA warned that the escalating violence poses a severe threat to civilians and stability in the area. The attacks, which caused both injuries and property destruction, averaged eight incidents per day.
“Since 2006, OCHA has documented over 9,600 such attacks. About 1,500 of them took place just this year, roughly 15 per cent of the total,” the agency said.
The West Bank, home to around 2.7 million Palestinians, remains central to aspirations for a future Palestinian state. However, the continued expansion of 'Israeli' settlements, considered illegal under international law, has fragmented the territory. More than 500,000 'Israeli' settlers now live in settlements across the West Bank.
The UN also highlighted the growing toll on children, reporting that 42 Palestinian minors have been killed by 'Israeli' forces in the territory so far this year. “That means one in every five Palestinians killed by Israeli forces in the West Bank in 2025 has been a child,” OCHA said.
