Three people were killed and several others injured in separate 'Israeli' strikes on vehicles in southern Lebanon on Saturday.

Among the fatalities, a drone strike targeted two brothers from the town of Shebaa while they were traveling on the road connecting Ain Ata to Shebaa on the western slopes of Mount Hermon. Their SUV caught fire, killing them both, according to Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA).

The 'Israeli' army later claimed that the two men were Hezbollah operatives involved in smuggling weapons used by the group, stating that their activities “constituted a blatant violation of understandings between Israel and Lebanon.”

But authorities noted that the targeted area lies outside zones hit by 'Israel' since confrontations with Hezbollah began two years ago.

'Israeli' Raid in Braachit Kills One, Injures Four

In a separate incident, an 'Israeli' raid on a vehicle in Braachit, Bint Jbeil District, resulted in the death of one civilian and injuries to four others, the Ministry of Public Health’s Emergency Operations Center reported.

Additional 'Israeli' Drone Attacks

'Israeli' drones also carried out attacks on the same morning, dropping three sound bombs on an excavator in the Kilo 9 area, located between the towns of Aitaroun and Blida.

Ongoing Tensions Along the Border

Nearly a year after the ceasefire that ended a year-long war between 'Israel' and Hezbollah, 'Israeli' strikes continue, particularly in southern Lebanon. 'Israel' claims its targets are military facilities and Hezbollah operatives attempting to rebuild the group’s capabilities. While 'Israeli' forces remain stationed at five border points, from which Lebanon demands withdrawal.

Hezbollah, in a statement on Thursday, rejected any attempt to draw Lebanon into “political negotiations with Israel.” Meanwhile, 'Israeli' strikes continued on the same day, targeting what it described as Hezbollah positions after issuing evacuation warnings to nearby residents.

Lebanese Leadership Calls for Negotiation

Lebanese President Michel Aoun said Thursday that negotiation remains “the only viable path to stop Israeli aggressions,” adding that since the ceasefire, 'Israel' has “made no effort to accept any negotiated settlement between the two countries.” A Lebanese official noted that Israel has not responded positively or negatively to Lebanon’s proposals for talks.

Hezbollah Disarmament Standoff

On August 5, the Lebanese government decided to disarm Hezbollah, putting forward a five-step plan for the Lebanese army to implement. Hezbollah has consistently refused to hand over its weapons, describing the government’s decision as “a grave mistake.”
