  • Mexico’s foreign and security ministries said they have no reports of an alleged assassination plot against the ‘Israeli’ ambassador in Mexico City
  • Iran’s embassy in Mexico dismissed the accusation as “a media invention” aimed at harming Tehran’s relations with Mexico.

Mexico’s foreign relations and security ministries said they have no report regarding an alleged assassination attempt against the ‘Israeli’ ambassador in Mexico City, following US and ‘Israeli’ accusations that Iran had plotted to kill the envoy.

In a brief joint statement, the two ministries said: “They have no report with respect to a supposed attempt against the ambassador of Israel in Mexico.”

The foreign ministry reaffirmed its “willingness to maintain open and fluid communication with all accredited diplomatic representations” in Mexico, while the security ministry emphasized its “respectful and coordinated collaboration, always within the framework of national sovereignty, with all security agencies that request it.”

Meanwhile, Iran’s embassy in Mexico denied the allegations, calling them fabricated. “It is a media invention, a great big lie, whose objective is to damage the friendly and historic relations between both countries (Mexico and Iran), which we categorically reject,” the embassy said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

The denial comes after reports in US and ‘Israeli’ media cited intelligence sources claiming that Iran had planned to assassinate the ‘Israeli’ ambassador in retaliation for recent attacks against Iranian officials.
