Hamas to hand over 'Israeli' captive body in Gaza

• Hamas will transfer the body of an 'Israeli' captive to the Red Cross as part of a prisoner exchange deal.
• The body was found in Gaza’s Shujaiya neighborhood, alongside remains of Palestinian martyrs.

The Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, announced that it will hand over the body of an 'Israeli' captive found in Gaza City to the International Committee of the Red Cross at 18:00 GMT.

In a brief statement, the group said, “As part of the Aqsa Typhoon prisoner exchange deal, the Qassam Brigades will deliver the body of one of the occupation’s captives at 8 PM Gaza time,” noting that the body was discovered in the Shujaiya neighborhood, east of Gaza City.

The Brigades later clarified that, accompanied by Red Cross personnel, their teams located the body after conducting a search and excavation inside the “yellow line” which is an area under 'Israeli' military control.

Separately, a Hamas source told AFP that several Palestinian martyrs’ bodies were also found under the rubble near the remains of the 'Israeli' captive.
