Hamas uses advanced masks, gloves to evade 'Israeli' AI surveillance: Expert analysis
- Hamas' “Shadow Unit” wears full masks, gloves, and eye coverings to counter AI reconnaissance.
- 'Israeli' forces use facial mapping and iris scans for biometric identification.
- Measures are designed to conceal fingerprints, hand features, and facial structure.
- Experts say the move reflects a shift to technological and intelligence-based warfare.
In an exclusive analysis, military and strategic expert Nidal Abu Zaid revealed that members of the Qassam Brigades’ elite Shadow Unit are using advanced countermeasures to evade 'Israeli' artificial intelligence (AI) surveillance.
The analysis came during Abu Zaid’s interview on Roya's Nabd Al Balad program, where he examined the recent handover of captives’ bodies.
Unlike traditional explanations for masked and gloved appearances, Abu Zaid said the attire goes beyond simple concealment. “Al-Qassam Brigades were aware” that 'Israel’s' reconnaissance systems can now capture detailed biometric data, including facial maps and iris scans, even when parts of the face are covered.
“The clothing worn by members of the Shadow Unit was specifically designed as a direct countermeasure to these technologies,” Abu Zaid explained. Eye coverings such as dark glasses prevent AI systems from scanning the iris, gloves conceal fingerprints and the architecture of the hand, and full masks hide facial features, mouth, and chin, making facial recognition virtually impossible.
Abu Zaid emphasized that the Palestinian resistance has adapted to the rapid development of 'Israeli' intelligence capabilities. “The resistance is precisely monitoring Israeli reconnaissance operations using artificial intelligence in Gaza,” he said, highlighting that the conflict has evolved into a “war of minds” that combines technology and counterintelligence.
The expert noted that this sophisticated approach allowed the Shadow Unit to manage the handover of captives while remaining undetected, despite 'Israel’s' efforts to track its most elite and secretive fighters.
“This proves that the battle is no longer limited to bullets and missiles, but is a technological and intelligence war par excellence,” Abu Zaid said, stressing that these measures force 'Israeli' forces to return to square one in identifying Shadow Unit members.
