Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani said that Doha has been closely following the challenges that disrupted the Gaza ceasefire on Tuesday, describing them as “disappointing but expected.”

In a press statement, Sheikh Mohammed emphasized that current efforts are focused on ensuring the ceasefire holds, noting that Washington remains committed to the agreement and that both sides understand the importance of maintaining it.

He reiterated that Qatar continues to monitor “the challenges faced by the Gaza ceasefire yesterday,” stressing that such violations are “expected in fragile agreements of this nature.”

Containing the “disappointing” escalation

The Qatari Prime Minister described Tuesday’s developments in Gaza as “disappointing,” but revealed that swift diplomatic efforts were launched to contain the situation.

“We engaged intensively with both parties to preserve the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip,” he said, adding, “We worked to contain it.”

Focus on sustaining the agreement

Sheikh Mohammed underscored that the priority now is to solidify the truce. “We are focusing on ensuring the resilience of the ceasefire in Gaza,” he stated.

He noted several positive signs, including Washington’s “commitment to the agreement” and a shared understanding among the parties that maintaining it is essential.

“Fortunately, both sides recognize that the Gaza ceasefire must hold,” he added.

Goal: ending the war and implementing the Sharm El Sheikh agreement

The Qatari Prime Minister affirmed that the current diplomatic efforts aim not only to sustain calm but also to achieve a broader objective.

“Our mission today is to ensure that the war ends and that the Sharm El Sheikh agreement is fully implemented,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, ‘Israeli’ defense minister issues threats against Hamas

In a sharp escalation of rhetoric, ‘Israeli’ War Minister Israel Katz declared that no member of Hamas leadership would be granted immunity.

This direct threat underscored that the targeting policy “will include everyone,” stressing that immunity would not be granted “to those wearing suits,” referring to political leaders, nor “to those hiding in tunnels,” referring to military commanders.

The statement coincided with the ‘Israeli’ army’s announcement early Wednesday of a return to the ceasefire, after a night of heavy bombardment on the Gaza Strip that the occupation justified as retaliation for what it called “a blatant Hamas violation” of the truce.
