VIDEO: 'Israeli' forces fire at Palestinian farmers in West Bank during olive harvest

Early Saturday morning, 'Israeli' forces fired live rounds, stun grenades, and tear gas at Palestinian farmers in the village of Kobar, north of Ramallah in the central West Bank, as they attempted to access their lands to harvest olives, according to local reports. No injuries were reported.

Reports stated that a group of farmers from Kobar tried to reach their lands in the western area of the village for the olive harvest but were met with gunfire, stun grenades, and tear gas, forcing them to retreat.

Although farmers were acting based on a decision by the 'Israeli' High Court allowing them to harvest olives in this area, which the 'Israeli' military had previously closed and blocked access to.

Israeli Occupation and settlers have, for several years, prevented Palestinians from reaching their lands following the establishment of an outpost near the settlement of Halamish, built on lands belonging to Kobar and neighboring villages.

Despite repeated attempts to block them, farmers remain determined to exercise their right to access their lands.

Each year, Palestinian farmers face attacks from Israeli forces and settlers during the olive harvest season, preventing them from reaching their lands.

According to the Palestinian Barrier and Settlement Resistance Authority, settlers carried out 7,154 attacks on Palestinians and their property in the West Bank over the past two years, resulting in the deaths of 33 people.

These assaults also caused the uprooting, destruction, or damage of a total of 48,728 trees, including 37,237 olive trees.

The recent incident in Kobar highlights the ongoing obstacles Palestinian farmers face while trying to access their lands amid military and settler harassment.
