Qassam Brigades reportedly executes ‘collaborators’ in Gaza on video
Footage circulating on Palestinian social media platforms Monday appeared to show members of Hamas’ Al-Qassam Brigades carrying out field executions of several people in broad daylight in central Gaza, accusing them of “treason and collaboration with Israel.”
The incidents reportedly took place a day after intense clashes in Gaza City, as part of a wider security campaign launched by the resistance’s security forces to “restore order and cleanse the internal front” following the partial withdrawal of ‘Israeli’ forces under the ceasefire agreement.
Shocking scenes
The videos, seemingly filmed on mobile phones, showed masked Al-Qassam fighters firing directly at several individuals, killing them instantly. According to voices heard in the clips, those executed were accused of providing information or assistance to the Israeli Occupation during the two-year war.
Background: restoring control amid post-war chaos
These executions come in the wake of violent confrontations between the resistance’s security forces and armed groups across Gaza on Sunday. The campaign, announced by Gaza’s Interior Ministry, aims to dismantle suspected networks accused of collaboration or spreading unrest during the power vacuum left by the recent aggression.
Observers say some of these groups may have been involved in looting humanitarian aid or running armed gangs that emerged amid the war’s chaos.
A message of deterrence
Analysts believe the swift and public nature of the executions sends a strong dual message:
- Internally, it signals zero tolerance for collaboration or challenges to Hamas’ authority as it reasserts control in the Strip.
- Externally, it warns 'Israeli' intelligence agencies that any networks established during the war will be swiftly uncovered and eliminated.
The developments underscore the volatile security landscape in Gaza as it enters the “day after” phase of the war, with Hamas seeking to tighten its grip and prevent any internal threats to its rule.
