US President Donald Trump announced from the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit that the war in Gaza had ended following the signing of what he called a “historic document,” describing it as “the greatest deal ever.”

Key points from Trump’s address:

  • End of war, start of relief: Trump declared the Gaza war “over” and said humanitarian aid was flowing into the Strip. He cautioned, however, that rebuilding Gaza may be the hardest phase, revealing that several wealthy nations expressed readiness to help, under the condition that no funding supports incitement or bloodshed.

  • Security conditions: Trump said his vision for Gaza includes disarmament, emphasizing, “We want Gaza to be demilitarized and the Middle East to be a safe place,” adding optimistically, “There will be no World War III in the Middle East.”

  • Thanks to mediators: He thanked Arab and Muslim states that helped secure the deal, especially Qatar’s Emir and Turkey’s president. He also commended his negotiating team and Secretary of State Rubio.

  • Future outlook: Trump said momentum is now toward “lasting peace in the region,” calling the release of captives “remarkable.” He urged more nations to join the Abraham Accords, noting that “many want to join the Gaza Peace Council, and we may need to expand it.”
